Best videogame era?

Aside from voting for your favorite era name the following:Favorite console from that eraFavorite game from that eraA sadly forgotten or underrated game from that era that deserves more (write if it is forgotten or underrated or both)Your favorite videogame character from that era (write what game that character is from)If I answered this it would look like this:Favorite era: 1994-1999Favorite console: PlaystationForgotten/underrated game: Medievil (Forgotten)Favorite character: Tanner ''The Driver'' (The Driver games)Best videogame era?
While I loved SNES and the original playstation I went with 2000-2006 because the playsation 2 just had way too many great games to ignore. I couldn't pick a favorite game but the RPGs were definitely the genre that put it over the top for me.Best videogame era?
Jesus I can't think about all that crap. I dont think I can even answer one part of your question lol. I devote enough of my brain to actually playing these games but remembering what years had what consoles and which games came out during that period and who my favorite character was during that time... Thats overkill. I can dumb it down to simple answers.....

I think the ps1-ps2 was the best era because it had both quantity and quality titles. I think the NES era had the best and most creative Characters, alot of the best characters from that era still live on today which is cool. I think the coolest most unknown game in the ps1-2 era was Carnage Heart(ps1). You got to create your own AI program for the little war robots(2 leg, 4 leg, tank, plane) and then watch automated battles of up to 3v3. The battles were fun to watch and at the same time you had to look for flaws in your programming. Im so pissed more of the sequels didnt make it over to the states. I dont know wtf American Publishers are thinking when they decide to not bring over so many of the cooler unique games japan gets.
the fifth gen when fighting games ruled supreme and FPS had been nothing but a faded dream.
i can't pick a favorite single gen. everything from nes up to ps2 was good, im not real thrilled with the current gens FPS frenzy.
NES era for techmo bowl and battle dodge ball.
I'm not going to vote on this because I love all the era's. I lean a bit more towards the PS1 era, seeing as that is when I first got into video games (although my first system was a Sega Master System). I think each era of videogames has it's pros and cons.
You should have put in 2006-2009! I would have voted for that, and so would everyone. Its a great era with the Wii, PS3 and XBOX 360 showing their worth with games andaccesories. The PS1 years are over, the next-gen consoles are the future of gaming.

The unfortunate lack of RPGs makes me a bit sad but when I look back to the beginning of the last generation it just seems to be a matter of time consoles have to be around before they really start cranking out the RPGs.
favorite game: metal gear solidfavorite era: 1994-1999favorite console: sega saturnforgotten game: heart of darknessfavorite character: sakura (SFA2)
Your eras are off since most of them cross multiple generations. The 16-bit era is by far the best IMO. You had four amazing systems, and if you count the two CD add-ons, it becomes six. Also, the games of this era were the best as well. This generation of gaming is by far the peak, and I'm not sure if it will ever be topped.
Favorite era: 1994-1999Favorite console: n64Forgotten/underrated game:ridge racer 64 (had better graphics and more stuff in it than ps1 ridge racer thats simular)Favorite character: not relating to rr64 Mario
My fave era would have to be the 64/32-bit days...here goes:
Fave console:I loved them all then, still do...that's why it's my fave era! =P but if I had to choose, I'd go with the N64, because that's the only one I actually owned(my uncle owned a Saturn and a PSX, and I used to play his.)Fave game:Gah, I dunno...Final Fantasy 9 or maybe Super Mario 64 or Strider 2 or Banjo-Tooie? I dunno! XDForgotten/Overrated Game:I dunno...=P Nights Into Dreams?Fave Character:Quina(Final Fantasy 9) or King Bob-Omb(Super Mario 64)
Well, those are kinda limited to the lifespans of just one gen of consoles, which I guess is alright, but to me personally the NES, SNES, Master System, and Genesis era together was the best of any gen. Gameplay came before graphics. Not saying gameplay isn't required now, but you can tell when people hype new games that a lot of the argument is over which game has the best graphics.Back when it was all simple 8-bit, or 16-bit, life was good :P
I didin't answer. Why?I think every era or generation has it's strenghts. SNES/PS/360 eras are the best imo.
for me it was the whole commodore64 to Amiga era. fav game from that era: too many! After that, the height of the FPS on PC - fav game from that era: Medal of Honor
I'll say the 90's, but vote for the later half.
Favorite console from that era: Playstation 2Favorite game from that era: Ratchet %26 Clank 3 or Kingdom Hearts 2Favourite game character: Roxas (Kingdom Hearts 2)
Best era is a mix of two of your options: 1991-1999Console: N64Underrated game: Colony Wars (PS)Character: Guybrush Threepwood (Monkey Island Series)
Best era in terms of cosole wars: N64/Playstation Console: N64

Underrated game: Although it has its followers and is part of a brilliant series FF8 because too many people feel it is the weak link but personally I loved it

Character: Murray the demonic talking skull (Curse of Monkey Island)
