FF7 because I'm a fan boy :) .Which PSone FF would you recommend me?
FF7 because I'm a fan boy :) .
well, probably you haven't read the topic, I already have VII, I'm confused if rather to get VIII or IX, but thanks anyway :P
Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy 9 are pretty good best PSX FF titles IMO. Also give FF: Anthology a try if you never played FF6 before.

I say go with FF9 it has a great story, music, cast of characters and offer a lot more replay value.
Final Fantasy IX. The best FF from the PSX.The game is fun, has an excellent and moving story, characters are unforgettable, graphics are top notch, music is also great. Gameplay? Good ol' FF style.
Honestly, you can't go wrong their both really good.I personally have a soft spot for FF VIII.
I always liked ff8 but ff9 is great , 8 is a departure from the more classic system and i loved the gun blade and the GF system and its one of the best opening CGI intos ever.
Unfortunately u dont know which u prefare till u have played em both.
Altho going off popular opinion ff9 seems the safer bet.
My recommendations, as far as PSONe goes.
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy IX
Final Fantasy Anthology
Final Fantasy Chronicles
Final Fantasy OriginsI'd skip out on VIII - the worst FF game in the series, bar none. Only two good things about that game was the music and maybe the story, but even the story wasn't fleshed out as well as I'd hoped to be, despite its strong romance story. And I'm well aware that it is a side story, but I also recommend Final Fantasy Tactics. You won't regret it!
If it's strictly between IX and VIII, go with VIII.I just think it's more memorable and moving than IX, especially the main characters.
If I had to put them in order I would sayTactics
FF VIII
FF IXI didn't like IX for some reason, I found the characters annoying and the storyline to be rather bland. I liked 8's steampunkesque locations, I actually liked the draw system and I got into the characters... as depressed as some of them are.Now again, I think that Tactics is the best of the FF games for the PSOne, it was enjoyable, had a great story, and great boss battles.
I suggest you get FFVIII.
I would recommend Final Fantasy 9 if you enjoyed FF7 alot.
heh, Thanks everyone... still having a hard time deciding, maybe should get Tactics instead of IX or VIII, anybody knows how long does it take to beat it on average? it's pretty expensive as well...but whatever.

Jeez... I guess it depends on how obsessive you are about getting the jobs and completing them. I wanted all the jobs, all of the secret characters and to get my units up to their tops. There is the secret dungeon at the end that can suck up a ton of time as well... I still play the extra dungeon just for fun and to gain levels... though I think I'll restart it soon on the PS3 just to start from scratch.Just to say... I think my timer is stuck at 99:59, so I've played it a lot!
Yeah, you can put in a ton of hours into Tactics and your first average runthrough without trying to get everything, using FAQs, and manuals could log you within the 40-60 hour range. You can (if you get good enough at it) also beat the game in like 11 hours. After I spent all the hours of getting absolutely everything I could in the game my first few runthroughs, I started to see how fast I could beat the game. I never gotten below 11 hours 8 minutes though.
FF9.
My first FF and it was great.
I say get FFIX. It has great story and characters. It was my first FF ( I played VII and VIII after that), and imo the best for PSone. FFVIII has a different play style than the original FF gameplay and for this reason it lost some of its interest for me. If you like VII I think IX is the best choice for you and you won't regret it.
i'd go for VIIIbut VIII and IX are both excellent. as long as you play both of them at some point, you can't go wrong with either of them.
If this is only between VIII and IX I would recommend VIII for sure. A better story, more likable characters, and the combat system is quite good if you can grasp the junction system. I had no troubles with it, but I hear a lot of people complaining so I'm not sure if it really is that complicated or if they are all just incompetent.
However, I also recommend you add Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy Anthology (for FFVI) to that list, those two + VIII are definitely worth playing.
