I definitley recommend you look into Jak 2 and 3. I really enjoyed the quirky badass characters. The variety of gameplay keeps you on your toes with a mix of platform, vehicles, and action elements. If your not afraid of a series that doesn't take itself that serious and is quite comical go ahead and check it out. Also Jak and daxter 1 is quite good but it is strictly platformer with a little vehicle action on the side.Good action/adventure ps2 game.. suggest ...
Yeah i have jak 2 and have played it many times, and indeed it isa very fun game, havent really checked out the 3rd one but i'll give it shot and borrow it from my little sister lol..thanks;)
Shadow of the Collossus, it really is as good as they say.

Try Okami. It's even better than Zelda in my opinion. It's a cool game not just because of the graphics (and the sound and music, which are also actually really good) but the gameplay is pretty darn sweet as well because of how you interact with the environment. It went greatest hits and so you can pick it up now for 20 bucks on amazon.com or gamestop. Gamestop has been consistently selling it for only 20 bucks for a while now. It's a classic and a must-have for the ps2 in my opinion. It took me 60 hours to beat and normally I would have given up around the 30 hour mark but it was just so good. It's the only long game I've really ever played through to the end, and that's saying a lot.:)
Also Star wars battlefront 2 kept me entertained for well over 150 hours.
okami is more of a zelda style rpg and imo is second chair to dark cloud 2 in quality but both im afraid arent important here as action/adventure and rpg are two different genres.id like to add as suggestions: devil kings and psychonauts

Excellent choices, Okami and Shadow of the Colossus are both very enjoyable and unique games, and are among the best on the ps2 IMO. Enjoy!
rpg? I suppose, although there's no denying that it also has action-adventure elements to it as well.
I agree with Pruvmerong in this discussion:
