Hi...I'm looking for a good PS2 RPG that is not FF nor SMT.I think there are 6 or 7,000 of these games lol but I'm kind of new to console RPGs so, even though this type of thread has been done to death, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.P.S. I'm pretty open minded...I'm 30 years old and kind of like sophisticated games, as far as plots and characters. Hope that helps.Need good PS2 RPG besides SMT or FF
Dragon Quest VIII is a good game, and then you might wanna check out Tales of the Abyss, Disgaea, or Rogue Galaxy.Need good PS2 RPG besides SMT or FF

Maybe Kingdom Hearts and Persona may interest you.
Maybe Kingdom Hearts and Persona may interest you.
Sorry, I meant Persona to be included with SMT games. I love Persona, but was looking for something else.No offense meant here, but Kingdom Hearts seemed like a kids game to me? How wrong am I thinking that? Thanks.
I never tried it myself. Its a mix of FF with Disney characters so i think that makes it look like a kids game.
Star Ocean, or if you like Turn based strats Front Mission 4 might be up your alley, with a very believable plot line with the game. Might want to try Valkyrie Profile 2 also.

Thanks. And Front Mission 4 looks interesting...kind of a mech type game?

Last year i managed to win it.
Kingdom Hearts 1%262. They may look like a production for an 8 year old but the game mechanics are extra fun.
Stay away from Star Ocean 3 and any PS2 Talestitles (if you're looking for a good story TC). I say try out Suikoden 3,5, Kingdom Hearts 1,Com,2 and Dragon Quest 8.

Kingdom Hearts is not kiddy. It also tells a serious story. Albeit with Disney and FF characters. The story is as good as any of the SMT games, infact its better.Try it out and see if you'll like it. Its pretty cheap these days, so do try. Kingdom Hearts's story takes time to understand properly. Its a great game and some of the cameo's are awesome.
Valkyrie profile 2 silmeria?
Thanks to everyone who replied here. You all gave some good ideas so I will begin the research process and look into purchasing on of the games mentioned.
I would recommend Kingdom Hearts if you enjoyed the Final Fantasy series. Or if not try Dragon Quest or Rogue Galaxy.
Valkyrie profile 2, do this
What the?How come no one mentioned Xenosaga? You mentioned you wanted a good story, well, that's definitely Xenosaga's best point.
I'll add my vote for Rogue Galaxy as well.. that was a great game.. Dragon Quest 8 is also very good.. I tried Kingdom Hearts (both) and wasn't too thrilled with either.. I get flamed every time I say it, but I just couldn't get past the voice overs.. like chalk on a blackboard.. drove me crazy...I'd also recommend theseBaldur's Gate Dark Alliance (i and ii)
Champions of Norrath
Champions: Return to Arms
Dark Cloud series
Grandia II or III or even Xtreme.. I liked that one as well..
Shadow Hearts series
Wild Arms series
Xenosaga Series
