That's insanely expensive actually.
I see them at certain used game stores all the time for $20-$30. I don't think Gamestop would stock them anymore, but I've seen Play N Trade with them, Game Crazy, etc.Going to purchase a Dreamcast.... Any DC ...
I don't think many games, if any, still play online anymore...then again, I never tried...=/ But is it coming with stuff for $110? Because that sounds a little, well, steep for just the console and a controller...XD
It comes with a one game, and four controllers... So where should I look for a cheaper one? I've found a couple of 'Internet' communities if you will that are still playing the DC online and stuff, so yeah, should I go and bring my buisness somewhere else?
Well I'm going to buy one for $110, tell me if that's a good price, plus, I know they're still making games for it (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreamcast), but I want to know if we can still play online, and any pros/cons of buying it etc... Thanks
$110 dollars? You're going to get ripped off.Online Play? Maybe. Some people have found ways of making their Dreamcast work for broadband without the adapter (they're impossible to find). It's not worth the time if you ask me. Odds are there aren't many people left anyways.Pros: All sorts of good games in all genres. Neat Tamagotchi-ish memory device.Cons: The Controller. It's big, oddly shaped, the cord is coming out of the wrong side, there's one analog stick and a difficult to use D-Pad (the controller is worse for fighting games than the 360 controller, I kid you not). Not recommended for use with: Fighting games, FPS', Third Person Shooters, anything that would normally require 2 anlaog sticks and a couple extra programmable buttons.Extra: Find the Keyboard and Mouse that was sold for the Dreamcast, there are a number of games that support it, and you'll be better off with it.

Unless the game is a brand new unopened copy of Soul Calibur, that Dreamcast is not worth 110 dollars even with the 4 controllers.
Definately don't pay more than $30 for it. I'd just check locally if possible or just whatever town you're in. I picked up a replacement Dreamcast in Terre Haute, IN for $20 and got all of the hookups and a controller with it. However, the worst thing about it is that it is getting a lot harder to find the games for it. So my advice really is that if you can't get it at a nearby shop, then don't bother. Most of the classics for it have been ported to other consoles (Ikaruga, Sonic Adventure, Skies of Arcadia), have had a sequal thats very similar on another console (Soul Calibur, Shenmue, Jet Grind Radio) or are just so expensive that it is hard to justify owning (Marvel vs Capcom 2). Don't get me wrong, its a decent system with good games, but building the collection won't be any easier than finding that console at this point.

I loved how that thing fit perfectly in my hands, and I personally thought the Dreamcast controller felt as close as I was going to get to an arcade-feel especially when playing Soul Calibur, and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2. I didn't check myself, but you could probably find a Dreamcast for a lot less than $110. Seriously, I'm going to say it again, that is insanely expensive.
That is waaay too much for a dreamcast. Unless you are buying the black sports edition one(sealed/nib) with a sealed copy of MvC2, then that price is a rip. I just bought a DC with 3 controllers on 1/31/09 for less than $30 on ebay and it works great. I advise checking ebay for a DC man. Also, if you are gonna want to play fighters on it, I recommend buying a fighter stick or a PSX/Saturn controller and total control adapter. If you don't have apaypal account, talk to sellers and ask them to pay with a money order, most are pretty accomodating in my experience(I have done that a few times).Good luck and seriously do NOT pay that much unless this DC is somehowEXTREMELY rare(see examples above).sayyy-gaa
That's way too much sir. You can get one for around $30 pretty easily.
$110! (hio) That's insane. I got mine for $20. I don't know if there is even a reason to buy a Dreamcast now. Most of their good games got ported or are very hard to find/ a lot of money.

Why do you think people like the system so much?
I know how people obtain games. Were not allowed to talk about copying games so I wasn't going to mention that.
Sorry to revive a dead thread, but I got some more info from the guy (he's away for now, but he'll be back soon)I'll get (for $110)
- 4 controllers, 2 un opened, 2 opened
- one dreamcast (used, but not old in anyway)
- an unopened copy of Phantasy Star Online
- the thing that lets you connect to the internet... I think some broadband adapter thing
- and for an extra 5 bucks, I can get Quake III: Arena (I think one of the better games for the DC :P) unopened
Quick Rundown on Dreamcast:
$110, ripoff most likely. You can find them for around 30 on eBay and such.
Official online play service is most likely shutdown, there aren't many games that use it, though there might be some way to connect to other servers.
The games that are being made are independent works made by homebrewers. Dreamcast had some good hardware and was very similar to the Sega Naomi boards, meaning arcade ports from those machines run wonderfully, such as MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 2. By the way MVSC2 is cheapest on the Dreamcast.
It also had some great titles, such as Power Stone.

I think Marvel Vs Capcom 2 was the best version for Dreamcast also
I loved the DC, but $110 is way too much. Plus, they tend to break after a while, especially if they're second hand. Mine lasted about 3 months after they were discontinued in the UK before the laser stopped reading and the discs stopped spinning. A friend of mine also had his DC wear thin after a while. On that note, it's still probably one of my favourite consoles with some great titles (Shenmue, anyone?). As for online play, I have no idea.
OK, here goes.
You still shouldn't pay more than $50 TOPS, and that's a sweetheart price. DC controllers are cheap and available all over ebay. I am a DC fan, and even I personally think the controllers suck. You're better off buying an adapter and using a PS/saturn or custom controller, or a third party knockoff controller.
Unopened PSO is useless since the game isn't supported. To play it, you have to find players on independent servers(however that works, but it's a hassle I know). All dreamcast come stock with a modem. So, that thing to connect to the internet...it's called a telephone cord. IF(and this is a heck of a big if) you are getting the BBA, it is STILL worthless for your DC because you won't be playing anyone online with it.
I can't speak on Quake III, but I do know it's an online game. It's prolly worth $5 though.
correct me if im wrong but isn't and unopened copy of PSO worth a ton? the gamecube version is worth at least a 100 used
$110 is WAY too much. I bought mine about 3 years ago for about $40.Look around. You can find them much, much cheaper than that.
