Tribute to Legendary Franchises Part I

Alright, I hope this is in the right section now.Just wanted to post a few words to each franchise. The titles are what I have heard many critics and gamers alike describe each franchise.Metal Gear, The Big Boss of GamingIt's difficult to start. If the term ''Groundbreaking'' was created for a reason, that would be Metal Gear, the series most responsible for the stealth genre.Known as a series that built itself upon perfection, Metal Gear is one of those franchises that are way ahead of their time. Revolutionary with each installment, this series is a timeless ****c, and a modern legend.Final Fantasy, The Holy Grail of GamingThis series has been called everything from a great piece of literature, to an undeniable pinnacle of gaming. Incredibly influential, the industry is divided into two groups: People who like it, and people who do not.Known for seeking perfection in all aspects of design, the series is famous for its innovative game play, breathtaking visuals and high quality stories. Epic is not even a word to describe this timeless ****c.The Legend of Zelda, The Mona Lisa of GamingThis series has become a textbook definition of a timeless ****c. From the very first game, the series has revolutionized gaming as a whole, with many describing it as ''masterpiece'', ''genius'', and ''epic''.Beautifully crafted with brilliant aspects of design, this series is a modern legend.Dunno how useful that was but I wanted to post it anyway. Will do part II later. Suggestions on which franchises to mention next are welcome.Tribute to Legendary Franchises Part I

Yeah, they are all good franchises. i never played MG but FF and Zelda are my fav.Tribute to Legendary Franchises Part I
what's so ground breaking about metal gear? : ?

how exactly is final fantasy the pinnacle of gaming?
what's so ground breaking about metal gear? : ? how exactly is final fantasy the pinnacle of gaming?
whats so groundbreaking about metal gear? you mean aside from inspiring the entire stealth genre? a genre that exists entirely because of the original metal gear?as for FF being the pinnacle of gaming, i think the TS stated that at its best it could be called that. and at its best i'd probably have to agree. besides, it westernized jrpgs and even the original ff1 saved square from bankruptcy.

A few reasons to both MG and FF:-- Technologically superior to anything out there.- Both have dedicated storylines and characters (which many games lack)- Both continuosly revolutionized their genre's.- The games are virtually flawless in their design, and advanced for their time (production values, AI etc)- Few games had the cultural impact enjoyed by those two, and they affected gaming as a whole. There are a billion other reasons I could state.
^^ what MaZz said.

Lol, good titles but I hardly think FF is the holy grail. Plus your missing a couple of titles such as MARIO, SONIC back in the day, and I can't even be bothered to write the rest.

MGS was a legendary status game, everyone know that.

FF is the longest series of JRPG games, and well everyone knows about it.

Ocarina of Time was given title greatest game ever, and was top of charts for 2yrs running.

Thats how these games got there titles and why they are considered legendary.
Mario and Sonic are more of great Characters, than great franchises. Also, Final Fantasy is treated as the Holy Grail of the industry with all the praise it gets (see FFVII in particular), not to mention many critics and gamers gave it this title.
why the **** is classic censored. gamespot you dumb ****
I can understand that about Sonic but Mario games are about the biggest franchise gaming has ever seen. Its pretty much the number one game in the world, or at least thats what all the charts say. Mario himself is known throughout the world as the general gaming mascot, the red, fat, little plumber has about as much renown as a Mcdonalds M sign, which suprisingly is more famous then the holy cross...So yeh Mario is the Jesus of gaming, LOL!

I remember now about FF holy grail title, I saw that ages ago and I forgot about it.

Metroid is another title thats legendary by status.

For some reason I can't think of more PS1 games

What about a fighting game Tekken prehaps.
You make a good point, Mario is the King of gaming, as a character. Final Fantasy is the Holy Grail of gaming, as a franchise. And yes, Metriod definitely deserves a mention. Thinking of doing some for Mario, Resident Evil, Street Fighter, and Halo in parts II and III.Help me come up with some titles, lol
Metal Gear is there but no Mario?!

MG series are great but it's not in the same league as Zelda or FF, those are truly legendary but MG games are just great/memorable games and thats it, you play them once no reason to bother with it anymore.
What about a fighting game Tekken prehaps.
How about Street Fighter?
Sure, I will have one ready for SF in part II.

What about a fighting game Tekken prehaps.
How about Street Fighter?
Good point, I actually couldn't remember any fighting games except Tekken when I write that post.

Mankar, Mario is the Emperor of games get it right! LOL!

I got admit to me this is a fun post, nice one Mankar.

Yep Resi, Halo, Goldeneye 64 are all I can think of at the moment.

...hack n slash game either god of war or Dynasty warriors...I know Dynasty warriors doesn't seem like a legendary game but seriously just about every single gamer has played a Dynast warriors at least once.

Goldenaxe and Streets of Rage if your interested in older games.
