Greatest console ever released?

What would you consider the best console ever released....not meaning the one that sold the most or had the most games but the best all around machine. I for a long time thought that the neo-geo was the greatest console but the price tag kept it from many homes.Oh, portables allowed in this discussion.Greatest console ever released?
I thought neo-geo was great at the time because back then arcade was king and it had arcade perfect graphics and an arcade style joystick. It was a console made for the arcade gamer.Greatest console ever released?
I think its easy to say the PS2. So many great games in many different genres, affordable, best controller, longest lifespan except Game boy which would probably be my number 2.
It's to hard to say. For me it's between Snes, N64 and ps1. They're all good in their own way and i love them for different reasons. Really can't choose one over another.
The SNES duh.Large variety of games, best games ever created, best controller.I mean seriously. The best RPG, Shooter, Platformer, and Adventure games came out for the system as well as top notch everything else.
For me it's a tie between PS2 and Dreamcast.
I have to go with the PS2 (all those great titles and it could play PSX games) also the SNES
Jaguar, nah just kidding. For me it has to be the PS1, it transformed gaming completely and set so many standards, with games such as the resident evils, MGS, final fantasy 7,8,9. wipeout, Gran turismo, pro evo,tekken, i could go on.
The Dreamcast was the last console for me, since, I thought it makes more since to just build a gaming PC. Awe, there was nothing like it when I first booted up the Dreamcast with Sonic, a true next-gen improvement.
I would have to say N64. Not only did it have some amazing games but it also corresponded to a time when I had more spare time to play and thus finished lots of games.
for me, its the dreamcast..it had the best imported fighting game library ever..and great arcade beat em ups also (dynamite cop and zombie revenge FTW!)
Probably the PS2 or Gameboy. Those are my favorite Legacy platforms since I did most of my gaming on them.
PS2. Its next-gen, but I'm still playing most of my favorites from last gen on the PS2. Its library is astounding, and the graphics aren't bad either.
NES/SNES/PS/N64
The SNES. It had everything, including several of my Top 10 games ever.

snes for personal preference, and ps2 out of respect. that system took over the world.

snes well bc it did somthing in its time the genesis couldnt do without some expensive add ons that would be mode 7 and also the super fx chip etc extended snes to n64 like graphicsthe n64 ps1 gc ps2 xbox nes and now wii/360 are great the rest are good in thier own right i cant choose one over the other i do though like what wii has done it took nes snes n64gc and improved upon itgames i liked are top gear super mairo bros/world doom goldeneye gt driver timesplitters mario kart mario party turok , so much more,
The PS2 is the best, since it has one of my favorite games for it.
