- Breath of Fire
- Castlevania Aria of sorrow
- Castlevania Harmony of dissonance
- Final Fantasy I %26 II Dawn of souls
- Golden Sun
- Golden sun 2 The Lost age
- Fire Emblem
- Fire Emblem The sacred stones
Thats a nifty list. I'd go through the fire emblems, and then the golden suns, first.GBA RPG list /opinions
Not a bad game on the list. Personally I always thought the breath of fire games were underated. I like the fact that the characters have special abilities that can be used in the overworld, not just during battles.
Start off with the Golden Suns. The rest are up to you.
I think castlevania: circle of the moon is superior to harmony of dissonance and aria of sorrow. The battle system is so much fun and the difficulty is perfect!
Thanks for the input guys, The suggestions were all well rounded pretty much though :P. I'll make the choice between starting Golden Sun or Breath of Fire tonight. Leaning towards Golden Sun b/c I have the sequel so I'll get more out of it I think. The battle systems from theSS's I saw look great too which did'nt hurt. I;m basically judging them by the battle system at this point and Fire Emblem seems it would be solid for its almost the same as Advance Wars, which Ive played before and loved a few years ago. It's also interesting to get into an RPG with the same battle system of that game. Leaving Castlevania... Some-Mist, is Circle of Moon worth looking for and buying? is it really alot better than the others? The biggest difference ive noticed between Sorrow and Harmony is character design, but im newbie to all of these games hehe, after how many years.. Final Fantasy 1%262 will take the back seat, or make that trunk, only because I've played every other one so I know what to expect from those , although still unique. What are some games like the Lufia series or Seiken Densetsu I remember from so long ago , now those were some serious RPG's:P

How it works is certain monsters drop different cards depending on the monster and the drop rate. There is 10 action cards and 10 attribute cards. You mix 1 action and 1 attribute card and you get a special stat increase (like +25% strength), whips (like fire, ice, and poison whips), sword attacks, and so many different cominbations for so much more. I like the weapons a lot. The only thing different in this game from the other 2 is the physics. That's kinda hard to explain but if you played circle of the moon AND one of the other games, you'd see what I meant. I don't think it's a negative thing but it's just different.I enjoy difficult games that are still possible to beat if you put the effort into it. Circle of the Moon was that kind of game.I don't like one of the games but I forgot which one it was (either aria of sorrow or harmony of dissonance) because I didn't like having to clear the same castle twice over. Kind of got really repetitive for me. But the one that wasn't the twice over clear was pretty good too. You can get aria of sorrow + harmony of dissonance together tho.everyone has their own opinions tho so it really depends on what you like. I'd suggest looking up youtube gameplay vids and checking both out.
Breath of Fire and FF 1 %26 2 shouldn't disappoint you. I have BoF and it's very good, quite long.
Golden Sun is awesome. Haven't played the 2nd one, but I'm planning to get my hands on it sometime soon.
I'll second the fact that Castlevania Circle of the Moon is the best of the three mentioned. I've played it through at least 5 times and still enjoy playing it occasionally for it's battle system and difficulty. It is worth at least looking for.
Well I say definately the Golden Sun(s). For a lot of people those are favorites above console RPGs. I really don't know what to say about the other games, I can only reccomend you to get Boktai and Lunar Legend. Those are some great RPGs for the GBA.
I'm sure some read my original post and thought w/e why not play them all at once? I really cant play 2 (or more) games at a time and really game, get into the characters and story, with the same thing going on in my mind with a different game. Note that does'nt apply to playing an RPG, and playing a FPS online the same day, just 2 RPG's at a time I mean.Played it for almost3 hours before I went to bed lastnight (Golden Sun) and for a half hour before I left this morning,I must say that I have a new found respect for hand-held gaming , (not not there was 'dis-respect'' in the first place hehe,) just un-appreciation.Golden Sun is great , I feel that feeling ....that has no name when I play it, the feeling, where the last 2 hours. since you last looked away from the screen flew by in an instant. In other words sucked in. Such a full blown game comming in a small package. I was getting flashbacks from the golden years ofSNES.To Aryoshi: Breath of fire will be the next one I play, When I look at it it gives me the feeling of DragonQuest series which I greatly enjoy.Im not suprised, like MonkeyStew said that some ppl like them over most console RPG. -For the most part- I think RPG's on the consoles lost all of its heart, leaving a bland experience. Maybe the fan base is'nt there anymore? I really doubt it though...or is it because everyones online and not wanting to play a game with themselves? I would say this really applies to this current gen of systems. PS2 is pretty much the holy grail for RPG's we all know, SNES the close tie or 2nd.
No Pokemon :(
