So I just bought Shenmue 1 and 2 for ?0 (about $75 or 55 Euros).I really enjoyed the first Shenmue all them years ago, but never got around to playing the second game, and felt it was high time that I did.I remember the first game relatively well, but I was wondering how Shenmue 2 differs from the first game? Anything useful I should know etc. If it helps I bought the European Dreamcast version. Also, if you are familiar with how much these games should cost, did I get a good deal? Thanks in advance if you can provide me with any info or advice.Shenmue 2
shenmue II differs in that theres alot more to do then the first one, and yea you didnt get a bad deal if everything is in order and the ?0 includes the shipping, and that its in good condition.Shenmue 2
Shenmue 2 is an epic game. One of the most engrossing and relaxing experiences I've ever had gaming. Even the monotonous tasks (carrying books out of a shed) feel strangely zen thanks to the music and graphics.
You won't regret number 2. Number 1 is a classic as well.
I don't think it's completely necessary, but why not read up on the story of the first just to jog your memory? You'll go into the second one with a little more understanding about what is going on. Might enhance the experience. Hope you enjoy it :)
i love pari love part 2 one of my all time fav games
Shenmue 2 has a feature in it which tells the whole story of the first game.Shenmue 2 ups the number of QTE (Quick Time Events), number of fights have increased, but some mini-games (book carrying) suck. Also, jobs become obsolete when you have sizeable amount of money for gambling. But Shenmue 2 is amazing. The music is well done and graphics are superb.I always found it amusing that the Shenmue games have perfect lip synching but games like FF X, FF XII, MGS 3 (exceptions are Jak 2) etc don't despite being on more powerful hardware.I enjoyed the fights in the first Shenmue game, but Shenmue 2 was decent. I really like the Shenmue series. Sad to see Yu Suzuki had to step down...

I highly recommend that too. At least play the first one for a little bit before jumping into 2. I own both as well, and they are fantastic games, and you seem to have gotten a pretty nice deal there. :)
I found much less enjoyment in # 2 as far as working, driving forklift in # 1 was great but the work in 2 is kinda lame... However, once you build your bankroll the gambling is rampant and potentially lucrative. Both are great games and showcase the brilliance of the Dreamcast.
I just started playing 2 a week ago, after playing 1 on DC all those years ago. It is a fantastic game, it pulls you in completely if you let it. You continue living his life from the 1st game and there is so much more to do , and the atmosphere is amazing. They did a great job from what ive seen so far (Hk)Whatever you do , try not to think about Shenmue 3 too much , can be very dangerous hehe
Shenmue II is way larger, has more action, and is better, or equal to the first game in almost every aspect, but one.
